What's happening now

The three short stories that I published in Holland between 1995 and 1999 and that make up the second group on the 'Early Stories' page, each are a first-person narrative. I've often thought of writing more of those, with a collection in mind. I was working on two such stories but have abandoned the whole idea - it started winding me up. The last one I wrote was about a homeless drunk and after months of working on it I ended up with a story far too long and binned it anyway because these first-person narratives always turn out so depressing.

So I wrote a third-person narrative and, will you believe, all three protagonists topped themselves! I want to write the novel I've been brooding on for several years. I'm ready for the very ordinary omniscient narrator. I'm in the early stages of what will be, someday, a masterpiece - here's no doubt in my arrogant mind. And that is al that's happening here. Well, I write the occasional story but they never survive my severe self-criticism.

To most, I'm a bit silly. Arty-farty. Useless. And I am. True enough!

Nevertheless, NOTHING'S URGENT (still)!
